The Challenge
Grewal Litigation is a Surrey-based criminal defence and family law firm led by Sarah Grewal — a UBC-trained lawyer and member of the Surrey Bar Association and Trial Lawyers of BC. The firm handles serious cases: DUI, assault, custody disputes, and refugee claims.
The problem was simple but costly. Their old website did not reflect the firm's credibility. In a space where trust is everything and someone searching at 11pm for a criminal defence lawyer makes a split-second decision — the site was not converting. Outdated design, slow load times, no clear service hierarchy, and no SEO foundation meant the firm was invisible to the people who needed them most.
What I Built
A complete redesign and rebuild from the ground up. Every decision was made around one question: will someone in a stressful legal situation trust this firm within 10 seconds of landing on the page?
Clean, authoritative layout with a clear visual hierarchy. Sarah's credibility — her UBC law degree, bar associations, multilingual team, and 24/7 availability — moved to the front. Real client testimonials integrated prominently. Mobile-first, because most people searching for a lawyer in crisis are on their phone.
Built on a modern stack with fast load times, smooth navigation between practice areas, and a frictionless contact flow. Each practice area — criminal defence, family law, immigration — got its own dedicated page optimised for how people actually search.
Targeted keyword architecture built around high-intent local searches. Terms like criminal defence lawyer Surrey, family lawyer Surrey BC, and DUI lawyer Surrey — the exact phrases people type when they actually need a lawyer, not just browsing.
